“Echoes of Kolkata” is a modern mural project of more than 3000 square feet at the Mahakaran Metro Station, aimed at capturing the vibrant intersection between the youth of Kolkata city and its rich colonial heritage. Located in the heart of the City of Joy, this mural serves as a visual narrative that celebrates the dynamic interplay between the past and the present, fostering a deeper appreciation for Kolkata’s diverse cultural tapestry.

These mural revolve around the theme of unity in diversity, showcasing how the youth of Kolkata engage with and reinterpret the city’s colonial legacy in contemporary times. It highlights the resilience, creativity, and spirit of innovation inherent in the city’s younger generation, while paying homage to its historical roots.

Myself Dipayan Lodh (2009 Civil Engineering) and Nakshtra Sen (2009 Architecture & Planning) own a commercial studio (2.39×1 Team) and jointly executed this prestigious project.

  • Excellent artwork with great themes. Expected little more elaboration of the detailed works and the themes. Anyway, many congratulations for this project.

    • Thank you so much ! These works are 6000 to 8000 sq ft in approx size . It’s really tough to capture proper essence of this work via still photography . If you ever visit kolkata , we would love to discuss our theme of works and thought process with you – ( dipayn , 2009, civil engg. )
